Biography

Tajbir Raihan is the Bioinformatics Scientist leading the CVRC Bioinformatics Core at the University of Virginia’s Cardiovascular Research Center (CVRC). He supports investigators across the CVRC and affiliated departments by providing expertise in bioinformatics analysis, experimental design, multi-omics data integration, and core operations.

His work spans a wide range of high-throughput technologies, with a strong emphasis on disease-focused research; including cardiovascular disease, cancer, and infectious disease; as well as integrative analysis across platforms such as transcriptomics, epigenomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and spatial omics. Dr. Raihan also has experience working with data from microbial, plant, and livestock systems, bringing a broad perspective to complex biological questions.

Dr. Raihan holds an MS in Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics from South Dakota State University and a PhD in Bioinformatics from the University of Kentucky. Prior to joining UVA, he conducted genomic research on disease resistance in agricultural animals as a postdoctoral researcher at the USDA Agricultural Research Service (USDA-ARS).
