The two faces of HIPPO: targeting the HIPPO pathway in pulmonary arterial hypertension
Growth suppressor HIPPO plays a central role in regulating cell fate and proliferation and controlling organ growth and regeneration. Recent studies from us and others demonstrate that HIPPO dysregulation in pulmonary vasculature drives pulmonary vascular cell hyper-proliferation, remodeling, and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). This talk will summarize recent advances in our understanding of the role of HIPPO cassette in PAH pathogenesis and outline current accomplishments and further directions in translating our findings to therapeutic interventions for patients with PAH.
