Principle Investigator

I am a Cardiologist and Cardiovascular Researcher focused on the molecular basis of cardiomyopathies. After completing the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) at Washington University School of Medicine, a Medicine residency and Cardiology fellowship at Duke University Medical Center, and establishing an independent research laboratory at Duke, I joined the University of Virginia. I am an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, and a resident faculty member of the Robert M. Berne Cardiovascular Research Center, caring for patients and continuing an active research laboratory. I believe the interface between clinical cardiology and basic research provides exciting opportunities to discover new insights into cardiac pathophysiology.

Leigh Bradley
Leigh Bradley
Lab Manager

Leigh has been at UVA for over 20 years. She ensures the lab operates smoothly by managing the lab inventory and equipment, as well as, processing orders for supplies for the entire lab. She regularly trains students and new lab members in safety and lab procedures as well as bench techniques. She manages the mouse colony while developing new genetic lines for research. She has extensive knowledge in molecular biology ranging from proteomics and nucleic acids to culturing cells to animal models.
