MR5 Building - Home of many of the CVRC research laboratories
CVRC facilities are staffed by individuals who are experts in particular research areas, including many faculty members who serve as core directors. In fact, the University has established a career track appropriate for full-time core directors, the Professor of Research-Support position. These individuals are PhD level research faculty who are highly committed to serving our research enterprise, and recognize that teaching of students and fellows is a critical part of core laboratory function. Users are charged a fee-for-service, but the cores are subsidized by the institution, thereby providing cost-effective operations. The educational component, however, is free. The effective management of each of the facilities is closely monitored by the Dean's Office and by oversight committees consisting of faculty who use the cores, thus ensuring that core laboratories provide high quality, state-of-the-art service.
